MMR 3033 DESIGN PROJECT 1 Sem 1 09/10
VIRTUAL REALITY
FINAL YEAR PROJECT BRIEF
You are required to create a VR application that applies all of the VR principles and use the
elements of experiential design.
The VR application must be anchored to the creative works of living Malaysian artists.
These 2d or 3d (sculpture) must be interpreted either from the view of the artist or through
your understanding of their interpretation. Your interpretation must be based on informed
knowledge and not just from your opinion or in other words, you must have thorough
background of the artist, his/her style, motives and other relevant materials to support and
justify your interpretation.
The interpretation of the artwork must be realized in a virtual application and must be
designed in a way that it is not only to give information or mere experiencing by
walkthroughs, but must have a high degree of interactivity that is engaging for the user to
experience in a new way.
These living Malaysian artists must have their artwork displayed either as permanent artwork
work or temporary displays in the National Art Gallery. This is to ensure that the chosen
artwork is created by distinguished and well established artists.
You are to present 3 project proposals in order of your preference. The project proposals
must show a clear understanding on the artist, the chosen artwork, the style and the
application itself. The proposals also must be able to explain your target audience, goal and
objective of the project and benchmark.
In addition to that, you also have the option to propose another project (4th proposal) on any
topic that you are interested in. However the main 3 proposals will be anchored to the theme
above.
You will present your proposals on Tuesday, Week 1 (16 June 09) in a professional manner.
Only project proposal that has been approved will be able to proceed to the next stage.
